Electric scooter
An electric scooter is considered a bicycle if it has a maximum speed of 20 km/h and a motor with a maximum of 250 W. However, it is important to note that the limit applies to the continuous (nominal) power – which means that the electric scooter may temporarily have a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W.
If the electric scooter exceeds 20 km/h in speed or has a motor with a nominal power of more than 250 W, other rules apply. The next classification is Moped class II and then Moped class IThere are technical requirements, such as braking systems, that must be met for an electric scooter to be classified as a moped.
Essentially, if it reaches up to 25 km/h it is considered Moped class II, while if the speed exceeds 40 km/h and the motor is stronger than 250 W, it is classified as Moped class I. For Moped class I, an AM driving license is required, the vehicle must be registered, and a helmet must be worn. Moped class II requires a driver's license and mandatory use of a helmet. If the electric scooter does not meet the requirements for a bicycle, Moped class I or II, it may not to be used on public roads.
Electric bike
For the requirements to apply to an electric bicycle, the motor must be limited to 250 W nominal (continuous) power and only assist pedaling up to 25 km/hThis means that the engine can temporarily deliver a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W. The electric bike must also be pedaled for the motor to work – it must not be able to drive on its own without the user's pedaling power.
Deviation from these requirements results in the vehicle being classified as moped, which entails other technical requirements, registration requirements, driving license and insurance.
We strongly recommend the use of a helmet, especially if the driver is under 15 years old, although it is not mandatory.
Read our blog posts for more information about the rules that apply to electric scooters and electric bicycles.

Thank goodness for this helmet that saved my life when I fell off the e-scooter at the end of May this year (2024). I hit my head and partly my face on the asphalt when an incredibly strong wind pulled me in. Destroyed my chin, dislocated shoulder, glenoid fracture (with surgery and over 4 weeks in a shoulder lock) and crushed ribs……but my head was intact thanks to this helmet that was crushed at the forehead. When I'm healthy again I'll buy a new one and then it won't be hard to choose!
Therefore, ALWAYS wear a helmet regardless of whether you are riding a bicycle or an electric scooter... and ALWAYS have 2 hands on the handlebars and leave your mobile phone in your pocket!!
This is my most important recommendation - this helmet is now definitely tested in reality!!
My son fell hard off his bike once and the helmet got dented but his head was fine! Now the whole family has a helmet like this! Highly recommended!!
"Amazing company for electric scooters! I had an outstanding experience from start to finish. Customer service was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, which made my purchase decision easy. The scooter is reliable and has an impressive range on a single charge. Plus, it is quiet and environmentally friendly, which I love. Highly recommend this company to anyone interested in electric scooters."

An excellent addition to the electric park in a country like Sweden where it is always dark.
