Product description

Experience freedom with the ENGWE EP-2 Boost – a legal electric bike with power and comfort.

The ENGWE EP-2 Boost is here to redefine your commute – with powerful torque, smart motor assistance and a range of up to 120 km. But the most unique thing? It is fully legal to ride as an electric bike throughout the EU. Perfect for those who want maximum performance without the hassle of registration or insurance required for moped-class electric vehicles. With upgrades from the previous model EP-2 Pro, this variant is both smarter, smoother and more compliant – while still delivering raw power when you need it.

Smarter electric cycling – completely legal in the EU.

Unlike many other powerful e-bikes, the EP-2 Boost is adapted to the EU's e-bike regulations. It has a 250W motor and a top speed of 25 km/h - which means you don't have to register, have insurance and wear a helmet (for adults). No electric mode? That's right - and that's exactly why it's fully legal. But don't let the rules fool you. Thanks to the smart torque sensor, you get an assist that feels both natural and powerful with every pedal stroke.

Long range for smooth commuting.

With a powerful 48V 13Ah battery, you can travel up to 120 km on a single charge in hybrid mode. The removable battery makes charging convenient – bring it into your home or office and charge while you work. Whether you’re commuting daily or heading out on a weekend adventure, you’ll always have enough capacity for the entire journey, without worrying about standing still.

Torque that takes you up every hill.

The big difference between the EP-2 Boost and its predecessor, the EP-2 Pro, is how the power is delivered. With the new Boost system, you get 55Nm of torque that is activated instantly when you pedal. The result? A responsive and powerful riding experience – especially on hills. This isn’t just an upgrade – it’s a whole new level of control.

Comfort for city and off-road.

The wide 20x4.0-inch tires handle both city streets and rough roads with stability. Front shock absorbers absorb vibrations and bumps, giving you a comfortable ride regardless of the surface. This makes the EP-2 Boost an obvious choice for both city commuting and those who like to explore new trails on the weekend.

High load capacity – perfect for delivery and everyday use.

With a maximum load capacity of 150 kg, the EP-2 Boost is a reliable companion even when you have a lot to carry. The bike is therefore not only a means of transport for commuters, but also a real tool for t.ex. couriers and deliveries in urban environments. Large disc brakes (180 mm) provide fast and safe braking even with heavy loads.

Foldable frame – take it everywhere.

Despite its robust construction, the EP-2 Boost is easy to carry. The foldable frame means you can quickly fold the bike and take it with you in the car, on the train or store it conveniently at home. Perfect for those who commute with multiple modes of transport or have limited space.

Modern display with full overview.

The integrated LCD display shows speed, battery level and mileage in real time – everything you need to plan your trips efficiently. You also get information about which riding mode you are in, for optimal control all the way.

Upgrades from EP-2 Pro – why Boost is the smarter choice.

The previous model EP-2 Pro offered great power, but was not legal to ride as an electric bike in the EU without registration. The EP-2 Boost is designed from the ground up to comply with regulations – while offering the same, if not better, riding experience. The differences are that Boost lacks an electric riding mode, has a more sophisticated power transmission system and is equipped with a smart torque sensor that provides a more natural cycling feel.

Laws & regulations

Electric scooter
An electric scooter is considered a bicycle if it has a maximum speed of 20 km/h and a motor with a maximum of 250 W. However, it is important to note that the limit applies to the continuous (nominal) power – which means that the electric scooter may temporarily have a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W.

If the electric scooter exceeds 20 km/h in speed or has a motor with a nominal power of more than 250 W, other rules apply. The next classification is Moped class II and then Moped class IThere are technical requirements, such as braking systems, that must be met for an electric scooter to be classified as a moped.

Essentially, if it reaches up to 25 km/h it is considered Moped class II, while if the speed exceeds 40 km/h and the motor is stronger than 250 W, it is classified as Moped class I. For Moped class I, an AM driving license is required, the vehicle must be registered, and a helmet must be worn. Moped class II requires a driver's license and mandatory use of a helmet. If the electric scooter does not meet the requirements for a bicycle, Moped class I or II, it may not to be used on public roads.

Electric bike
For the requirements to apply to an electric bicycle, the motor must be limited to 250 W nominal (continuous) power and only assist pedaling up to 25 km/hThis means that the engine can temporarily deliver a higher so-called peak power, for example up to 1000 W, as long as the nominal power does not exceed 250 W. The electric bike must also be pedaled for the motor to work – it must not be able to drive on its own without the user's pedaling power.

Deviation from these requirements results in the vehicle being classified as moped, which entails other technical requirements, registration requirements, driving license and insurance.

We strongly recommend the use of a helmet, especially if the driver is under 15 years old, although it is not mandatory.
